Frequently asked questions
- How do I read text from another app?
- Select the text, tap Share, and choose Yomi. Then open Yomi: the text will be waiting. If Yomi is not in the share list, scroll to the end of the app row, tap More, and turn Yomi on.
- How do I read a screenshot?
- Tap the image button in Yomi and choose the screenshot, or share it to Yomi from Photos. The text is recognised on your device, so check it, then tap Read.
- Does Yomi need an internet connection?
- Not in the app. The dictionary is built in, so pinyin, meanings and screenshot reading all work in airplane mode.
- A word has the wrong pinyin or meaning.
- Rare words and names can be split or read oddly. Email the sentence and the word, and it will be looked at.
- Does Yomi save what I read?
- No. Nothing you read is kept or sent anywhere. See the privacy policy for details.
